KBN Youth Rules & DOCUMENTS

Safety

Safe boating conduct should be observed at all times by Anglers/Coaches wearing the appropriate personal flotation device and following all state/federal navigation laws.

Sportsmanship

Boat Captains/Coaches, Anglers, parents/family members of Anglers participating in any KBN sanctioned event shall, always, conduct themselves in a professional manner.

Fish care is vital in our catch-and-release tournament format. Proper care, including quick landing, minimizing air exposure, and maintaining optimal water conditions (temperature, oxygen levels) in the livewell, is paramount.

Boat Captains Are Required to Obtain Boater's Safety Certification

As of January 1, 2025, B.A.S.S. enacted a rule change stating, "any angler who

wishes to compete as a boater in any B.A.S.S. event (except High School and Junior events where competitors do not operate a boat) must submit proof of completion of an approved Boater Safety course."

Although for National B.A.S.S. High School and Junior events Boater Safety certificates are not required for boat captains -- these are required for KBN events. In efforts to ensure the highest standard of boating safety during our KBN Youth tournaments, all Boat Captains (although not competing) are required to verify their active boater safety certification prior to participating in any KBN event.

Please note, this is not currently required for student anglers, although we highly encourage student anglers to fill this form out as well.
